Today, Congressman Andy Levin (D-Bloomfield Township), member of the House Education and Labor Committee, announced that President Joe Biden signed his Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) and Supportive Effective Instruction State Grants (Title II-A) funding requests into law as part of the FY22 omnibus spending legislation Congressman Levin voted to pass last week.

These funding requests include a $332 million investment for CSFP, a critical nutrition program that delivers USDA commodities primarily to seniors and $2.2 billion for Title II-A to ensure educators, principals and school leaders receive the professional learning and leadership skills needed to support every student.

“As inflation soars and our country continues to endure pandemic-induced economic challenges, reliance on nutrition assistance is greater than ever. We must remain laser-focused on funding service and nutrition programs as these lifelines make certain that no American is left behind,” said Congressman Levin. “The pandemic has also strained our nation’s education system in unprecedented ways. That’s why I’m pleased President Biden has taken up my funding requests so we can provide the people responsible for educating our nation’s children the professional tools they need to help our kids recover from the pandemic and rebuild our education system better than ever.”
