Today, Congressman Andy Levin (D-Bloomfield Township), member of the House Education and Labor Committee and workforce policy expert, announced that over 217,200 jobs have been created in Michigan since President Biden took office according to the latest data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Congressman Levin has been a staunch ally in helping Michiganders get back to work by helping pass the American Rescue Plan and the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act President Biden signed into law last year.

“I’ve been laser-focused on doing everything I can to lift up Michigan’s economy and create good-paying, union jobs—well before I walked the halls of Congress. I’m happy to have played a role in Washington to bring over 217,000 jobs back home to Michigan by voting to pass the American Rescue Plan and the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act,” said Congressman Levin. “Still, more must be done. Michiganders and Americans across the country—already saddled with high child and health care costs—are feeling the pain in their pocketbooks as prices at the gas pumps and in the grocery stores continue to soar. It is time to reinvigorate stalled negotiations in the Senate to pass core legislation to lower costs related to prescription drugs, childcare and climate change. The pandemic is far from over and millions of Americans are still grasping with the economic devastation of COVID. My top priority remains providing Michiganders continued support and relief, and I won’t stop fighting until the job is done.”

Under President Biden, the U.S. has created an average of 568,000 jobs per month – a total of nearly 7.4 million jobs since January 2021.
