“I started 2022 determined to expand the progress we made last year to build back better and recover from a public health emergency and economic crisis that brought our country to its knees. In partnership with our city leaders, I brought home nearly $9 million in federal funding for community projects,” said Congressman Levin. “I’m so thrilled that Chapaton Retention Basin will receive $4.5M to reduce combined sewage overflows, crucial regional funding as Lake St. Clair serves as the drinking water supply for Southeast Michigan and heavy rainfalls due to climate change have threatened our water quality and caused residential destruction.”
“In the first quarter of 2022, I’ve held firm in the fight to deliver additional COVID-19 relief to the American people, defeat corporate greed as inflation soars, defend our sacred and hard-won democracy, tackle our nation’s gun violence crisis, expand the fundamental right to organize and bargain collectively to congressional staff, protect abortion and reproductive health care rights and hold Vladmir Putin and his cronies accountable for Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine,” continued Congressman Levin. “I remain committed to doing everything we can to meet this moment by empowering all those suffering at home and abroad through bold, progressive policies.”
Notable wins for Oakland and Macomb communities during this quarter include:
- Over $189K constituent dollars recovered;
- 2 amendments passed in the House of Representatives;
- 6 pieces of legislation authored;
- Nearly $9 million in community project funding; and
- 15,095 constituent response letters mailed.
