McConnell Applauds Nomination of Judge Claria Horn Boom of Kentucky for U.S. Sentencing Commission

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) released the following statement today after the President announced his intention to nominate Judge Claria Horn Boom to serve on the U.S. Sentencing Commission:

“With rising crime at the top of many Americans’ minds, it’s as important as ever to nominate strong candidates to the U.S. Sentencing Commission who will enforce law and order and hold criminals accountable. Judge Claria Horn Boom is just such a nominee, and I am incredibly pleased the President announced his selection of her today.

“With her background as a judge and federal prosecutor in Kentucky, Judge Boom will bring invaluable experience to the Commission. I look forward to the Senate confirming her nomination and placing a seasoned legal expert in charge of our nation’s federal sentencing guidelines.”

Judge Boom currently serves as U.S. District Judge for the Eastern and Western Districts of Kentucky
