Today, Congresswoman Haley Stevens (MI-11) released the following statement after the final passage of the American Rescue Plan Act:

“It is an incredible day for many hard-working Americans whose pensions have hung in the balance for years,” said Rep. Haley Stevens. “I am over the moon that this critical provision in the American Rescue Plan Act will save multi-employer pensions. The American Rescue Plan Act included language almost identical to my legislation, the Emergency Pension Plan Relief Act, to fully restore pension benefits for workers in ailing plans over the next three decades. Over one hundred multi-employer pensions, affecting close to one million Americans are in critical status and unable to pay full retirement benefits, crushing countless families. This morning, Congress took action to fully protect the hard-earned retirement of tens of thousands of Michiganders. This is a phenomenal achievement and one of the many things I came to Congress to fix. I will continue lifting up their voices as a strong supporter of labor in the United States Congress.”
