Michigan

Today, Rep. Haley Stevens (MI-11) announced the launch of her summer small business fellowship. This fellowship is open to high school and college students who live and/or attend school in Michigan’s 11th Congressional district. Through this fellowship, students will gain real-world experience working with a Michigan small business or franchise, while partnering with our office to learn how federal policies affect small business operations.

“I am thrilled to announce the launch of my summer small business fellowship,” said Rep. Stevens. “Small businesses are the backbone of our economy in Michigan and employ countless Michiganders. This is an opportunity for students to have a one-of- a-kind experience learning firsthand what it takes to run a small business or franchise while learning directly from Congressional staff how we support small businesses legislatively. I can’t wait to meet this incredible class of fellows!”

Fellows are expected to gain employment with one of the many small businesses or franchises in the district and work a minimum of 30 hours per week for that business. Fellows will also participate in weekly discussion sessions with members of Congresswoman Stevens staff to communicate key takeaways and explore policy impacts on local business. At the end of the summer, fellows may submit a final project to recap and summarize their experience, and advocate for new policy initiatives with our office.
