WASHINGTON, D.C. – As part of its opposition program, “On Notice,” EMILY’s List is targeting six Republican-held congressional districts, the Texas governorship, and the Texas House of Representatives to flip in the 2022 cycle. Emily Cain, the executive director of EMILY’s List, released the following statement:
“Republicans at every level of government in Texas have betrayed their constituents in favor of implementing an extreme, dangerous abortion ban. Instead of working to help their communities recover from the COVID-19 pandemic, Governor Abbott and Republicans in the Texas Legislature are depriving people of their reproductive freedoms. EMILY’s List is ready to replace each of these anti-woman, anti-family officials with Democratic pro-choice women who will protect the right to choose.
“While this ban was pushed through at the state level, Texas Republicans in the House of Representatives have also continuously prioritized their extreme anti-choice agenda at the expense of those they were elected to serve, including signing a Supreme Court brief calling for Roe v Wade to be overturned. Let this be a warning: voters want to protect their abortion rights and reproductive freedoms, and any politicians who fail to do so will be voted out. EMILY’s List is ready to fight to elect Democratic pro-choice women to replace Reps. Dan Crenshaw (TX-02), Van Taylor (TX-03), Michael McCaul (TX-10), Troy Nehls (TX-22), Tony Gonzales (TX-23), and Beth Van Duyne (TX-24).”
