U.S. Congressmen Bruce Westerman released the following statement on the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan.

"President Biden's ‘planned and strategic' withdrawal of U.S. troops from Afghanistan has resulted in chaos. The Taliban sits in the Presidential Palace and is reportedly in possession of U.S. arms meant to fortify the Afghan army. Americans on the ground are stranded, hiding and praying for their lives. Families cling to the few planes leaving the country, desperate for safety. America has lost all credibility.

"President Biden acted against the advice of numerous military and policy advisors to rush the withdrawal from Afghanistan, all but handing the country to the Taliban. This is a disgrace to the service members who lost their lives, were wounded, or continue to deal with the trauma of combat in their 20-year mission to protect their country from extremists. President Biden has allowed the fragile nation to fall into the hands of those same extremists, risking the lives of Americans now and in the future. His short-sighted, politically expedient decision making has exposed our nation, our allies, and the Afghan people to serious terrorist threats," said Congressman Westerman
