French Hill for Congress: HILL & BOOZMAN ANNOUNCE $3 MILLION GRANT TO LITTLE ROCK PORT AUTHORITY

Today, Rep. French Hill (AR-02), along with Senator John Boozman (R-AR), announced the Little Rock Port Authority as the recipient of a U.S. Department of Transportation Port Infrastructure Development Program grant funded by Fiscal Year 2021 appropriations. This grant, totaling over $3 million will go to restoration and expansion of the port’s current barge fleeting capacity on the Arkansas River.

“This grant will aid in expanding our port’s capacity and capabilities in its leading role as an economic engine in our region,” said Rep. Hill. “This grant will also allow us to ensure the safety of all involved and I am looking forward to seeing what is next for the Port of Little Rock.”

“Upgrading the Little Rock Port’s barge fleeting capacity will enhance safety and capability, increase our state’s industrial output, and ensure that economic activity continues flowing uninterrupted,” said Sen. Boozman. “I’m pleased this project is getting needed federal investment to improve the port’s operations.”

"The Port of Little Rock is excited to receive the Port Infrastructure Grant and we thank Congressman Hill for his continued support.  As the port continues to grow and create jobs for Little Rock and central Arkansas, it is imperative we find ways to invest in our infrastructure,” said Bryan Day, Executive Director for the Port of Little Rock. “These federal funds will help us to remain competitive as we attract manufacturers and industry from around the world.”

The $3 million grant will replace fifteen unsafe deadman ground anchors with steel monopile dolphins and install an additional 32 dolphins in other locations.
