WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Alex X. Mooney (WV-02) issued the following statement on the Supreme Court’s decision on West Virginia v. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The Court ruled the EPA acted outside the authority granted to the agency by Congress, by issuing significantly overreaching rules. This decision will have a significant impact on the future of the coal and natural gas industries in West Virginia.

“Today, the Supreme Court ruled Congress, not the Biden administration, has the power to regulate emissions from power plants. Unaccountable lifelong bureaucrats with an extreme left-wing agenda should not be dictating unilateral policy from cubicles in federal office buildings,” said Congressman Alex X. Mooney. “Lawmakers with a direct connection to the people they represent should be making decisions on issues like the future of energy policy in the United States. Scaling back the Biden administration’s extreme climate overreach on domestic energy producers is a vital step in expanding American energy independence.”
