Today, Ald. Pat Dowell unveiled the Spanish language version of her campaign website at https://www.illinoisfordowell.com/es. Dowell’s campaign is the first of all the Congressional candidates in IL-01, and the second of any Democratic Congressional candidate in the state, to launch a Spanish-translated campaign website.
“As Alderman, I’ve prioritized meeting people where they are; whether that is hosting town halls in senior buildings or pushing for ASL interpreters to be available on City Council Zoom meetings, information must be accessible to all communities. I’m proud to announce that Spanish-speaking voters will now be able to read our website in their native language.
In City Council, I’ve built coalitions and implemented solutions to a variety of accessibility problems, especially when it comes to voting access and voter registration. I have secured additional polling locations to ensure equitable access to all residents, trained hundreds of Deputy Registrars to ensure barriers to voter registration are removed, and helped ensure that those who target voters in our community with misinformation and disinformation campaigns are held accountable. Providing reliable information about my candidacy in Spanish is the natural next step in ensuring an educated and civically engaged citizenry. I’m ready on day one to deliver for every IL-01 resident, and that includes those who are not native English speakers.” said Ald. Pat Dowell, candidate for the Democratic nomination for Illinois’ 1st Congressional District.
