WASHINGTON D.C. – Congresswoman Carol Miller (R-WV) today announced an Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) grant worth $143,550 to the Huntington Museum of Art.
The Huntington Museum of Art will use this funding to expand its current nature trail system to provide patrons additional opportunities to interact with and learn about nature. Specifically, the museum will use this grant to expand its Teubert Sensory Trail, which is designed to meet the needs of visually impaired individuals and people who use wheelchairs. It will also install educational signage and other resources to make nature more accessible, inviting, and engaging for individuals with disabilities.
"Every individual, no matter their circumstance, should have the same opportunity and ability to connect with art and nature," said Congresswoman Miller. "I am thrilled Huntington's very own Museum of Art will receive this generous grant to make its nature trails more accessible. These funds will equip the museum with the resources it needs to ensure members of our community and tourists alike can experience its rich art and history with ease."
