Carol Miller for Congress: Visits Fayette County to Visit Small Businesses, New River Gorge National Park and Preserve

West Virginia

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congresswoman Carol Miller (R-WV) visited Fayette County today to tour Fayetteville small businesses with local leaders and see the new sign at the New River Gorge National Park and Preserve.

In Fayetteville, Congresswoman Miller went on a walking tour of businesses with local leaders, including Fayetteville Mayor Sharon Cruikshank. On the tour, she spoke with business owners about how they're recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic. They also discussed ways the recent redesignation of the New River Gorge National Park and Preserve is bringing increased tourism, commerce, and opportunity to the area.

Congresswoman Miller introduced the New River Gorge National Park and Preserve Designation Act in the House of Representatives that was signed into law in December 2020. The legislation officially made the New River Gorge America's 63rd National Park and 20th National Preserve.

"It was a great day spent in Fayette County visiting local businesses and seeing the beautiful sign for our nation's newest national park," said Congresswoman Miller. "It is so important that we continue to bring business and opportunity to southern West Virginia, and I know the New River Gorge National Park and Preserve will do just that for Fayette County. I thank everyone for opening their doors to me today, and I look forward to taking these stories with me back to Washington to make sure our small businesses have the resources they need to grow and thrive."

Congresswoman Miller additionally visited Alpha Metallurgical Resources to see how they are mining coal for the steel industry and transporting it around the region.
