WASHINGTON — Today, Congressman James Comer (R-Ky.) released the following statement on the Supreme Court’s decision in West Virginia v. Environmental Protection Agency:

“Today’s Supreme Court decision is a monumental step forward to prevent the Executive Branch from unilaterally pushing burdensome regulations on the American people that are outside the scope of the laws passed by Congress. Since assuming office, the Biden Administration has stopped at nothing to implement radical Green New Deal policies without any clear congressional authorization. I applaud the Supreme Court for affirming that Congress, not the Executive Branch, has the responsibility to make our laws.

“Americans continue to suffer from soaring energy prices and rising inflation. Excessive regulations and requirements sought by this Administration have only made the situation worse and nearly impossible for energy producers to provide Americans relief. Today’s decision is an important check on the Executive Branch that will prevent this Administration from forcing Americans to rely on expensive and unreliable energy sources.

“In Congress, we must continue to fight against radical Green New Deal proposals that stifle economic growth, harm job creation, and make energy more expensive. We must enact solutions that boost American-made energy production and provide affordable energy to the American people.”
