Today, Rep. French Hill (AR-02) released the following statement after voting against H.R. 447, the National Apprenticeship Act of 2021.

“The National Apprenticeship Act passed today creates obstacles to job growth and reinforces a broken 80-year-old system Which is why I voted against it. I am for improving the antiquated system — which is why I offered an amendment to allow small businesses applying for funding to be able partner with a non-union or a union organization. My amendment allows for more flexibility to be given to training programs and ensures that more local companies meet the qualification for funding. And the fact that it was defeated shows that Democrats are more interested in protecting their union friends than working collaboratively to expand job opportunities for all Americans especially in the midst of a public health and economic crisis.”
