French Hill for Congress: REP. HILL VOTES AGAINST HOUSE DEMOCRATS’ ‘UNION BOSSES’ BILL

Arkansas

Rep. French Hill (AR-02) today issued the following statement after voting against H.R. 842, Protecting the Right to Organize Act of 2021 (or PRO Act):

“Once again, House Democrats are using a fancy title to blur their real intentions which are to favor unions and union bosses at the expense of Arkansas workers and families.  The so-called PRO Act would overturn the laws of Arkansas and twenty-six other right-to-work states. This includes by reversing the ban on ‘hot cargo’ agreements that have been in place for over five decades to ensure union businesses cannot shut out non-union businesses. The bill also violates worker privacy, removes secret ballot protections, and potentially creates costly fines for small businesses if they misinterpret the legal requirements included in the PRO Act.

“I offered a simple, straightforward amendment to preserve the ban on ‘hot cargo’ agreements to protect the workers and non-union employers in right-to-work states like Arkansas , but House Democrats wouldn’t let me bring it up on the House Floor.  I voted against this bill because it undermines the rights, freedoms, and opportunities for workers and only serves to benefit the big labor community.”
