Rep. French Hill (AR-02) released the following statement regarding the actions of the Biden-Harris Administration to undermine Second Amendment rights:
"One thing remains clear: While the president has consistently called for bipartisanship on critical issues facing Americans, he remains committed to bypassing Congress – where with slim majorities in the House and Senate, 50 Democrats would likely not support what his administration is proposing.
"We all want solutions to curb all violence. For my part, I have supported legislation that toughens our schools, focuses on mental health, and strengthening the National Instant Background Check system all while making sure that law-abiding gun owners are not infringed upon. Thus, I would welcome bipartisan evidence-based measures to aid communities in curbing violence.
"However, the president’s approach as outlined circumvents the role of the legislative branch and gives more power to the ATF, and undermines the rights of gun owners.
"Facts matter, as do the freedoms of millions of Americans. I have heard from many Arkansans regarding the bureaucratic nightmare that is the ATF, and giving them more power will not change anything."
