Today, Pinellas County Clerk of Court Ken Burke and St. Petersburg Council Member Ed Montanari announced their endorsements of Kevin Hayslett in the race for Congress in Florida’s 13th Congressional District. Hayslett, a former prosecutor and small business owner, is running to flip FL-13 from blue to red for the first time since 2014 and has received widespread support from local elected officials in Pinellas County.
Both Burke and Montanari have served their communities for over a decade. Burke has served as the Pinellas County Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller since 2005, as well as numerous local committees. Montanari, who served as an F-16 Pilot and Instructor in the Air Force, has also served on numerous local committees and has served as a St. Petersburg Council Member since 2016.
“St. Petersburg deserves a member of Congress that prioritizes our safety and security, and that person is Kevin Hayslett. I am proud to endorse a candidate I know will stand up for this community and put his constituents above all else,” stated Council Member Montanari. “Kevin is the only candidate we can trust to keep our nation secure, lower our taxes, support law enforcement, and stand up to the Biden administration’s reckless policies.”
After entering the race in January, Hayslett has quickly received the backing of prominent local leaders in Pinellas County, including former Mayor of St. Petersburg Bill Foster and Sheriffs Bob Gualtieri and Jim Coats. Hayslett has quickly amassed more local support than any other candidate in the race.
“Pinellas County leaders are supporting Kevin Hayslett because he is a lifelong resident who understands what this community needs. As businesses struggle with rising prices and families adjust to make ends meet during record high inflation, I know that the only person we can trust to get our country back on the right track is Kevin,” stated Pinellas County Clerk Ken Burke. “I am so proud to endorse Kevin Hayslett in the face to flip FL-13.”
