RALEIGH: This weekend, Cheri Beasley joined Reverend Al Sharpton on MSNBC’s PoliticsNation to discuss her track record of fighting for North Carolinians as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court and her commitment to standing up for North Carolina in the U.S. Senate.
In the interview, Beasley shared how her experiences raising her family in North Carolina and serving as a judge informed her decision to run for U.S. Senate, saying, “My husband, Curt and I have raised our twin sons in a home steeped in faith and the belief in hard work and I have been a judge. I’ve served as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of North Carolina and I have given my life to the state of North Carolina, working hard to protect our rights, to make sure that our communities were safe and viable, and to make sure that we were applying the law equally to all people. I know that Washington has failed the people here in North Carolina, and I just know it’s time for that to change.”
Beasley continued, “People in North Carolina want somebody who’s going to fight for them to make sure that they have access to health care, that they have good-paying jobs, that their children have access to a good education, and that we’re lowering costs for people across the state. And the same values that I have shared as a judge and as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, I will take those values to the United States Senate.”
