RALEIGH: Today, NARAL Pro-Choice America announced their endorsement of Cheri Beasley for U.S. Senate.
“NARAL Pro-Choice America is proud to stand with Cheri Beasley in her historic bid to become North Carolina’s first Black U.S. Senator. Cheri Beasley, a woman of many firsts, has already made history as the first Black woman to win a statewide election in North Carolina and the first Black woman to serve as Chief Justice on the state Supreme Court. She has fought for the fundamental freedoms of the people of North Carolina for over two decades and we know she will bring that same commitment to the Senate. NARAL could not be more proud to endorse Cheri Beasley, and we look forward to working with her to protect and advance reproductive freedom,” NARAL Pro-Choice America President Mini Timmaraju said.
“As reproductive freedom is under attack across the country, it’s more important than ever to have a Senator in Washington who will stand up for our fundamental rights,” Cheri Beasley said. “I am proud to earn the endorsement of NARAL Pro-Choice America and in the Senate, I will fight every day to protect reproductive rights and ensure North Carolinians can get the care they deserve.”
Throughout the campaign, Cheri has underscored her commitment to “speaking out for reproductive freedom,” and has focused on “expanding access” to care as states ratchet up attacks on reproductive rights.
NARAL joins over 200 leaders in endorsing Beasley for U.S. Senate, including Governor Roy Cooper, State Senator Jeff Jackson, Attorney General Josh Stein, all Democratic members of North Carolina’s congressional delegation, more than 100 faith leaders across the state, and key organizations including NC State AFL-CIO, EMILY’s List, Congressional Black Caucus PAC, Planned Parenthood Action Fund, End Citizens United// Let America Vote, Higher Heights for America PAC, The Collective PAC.
Since entering the race, Beasley has outraised every single candidate, including Trump-endorsed Congressman Ted Budd and former Governor Pat McCrory.
