RALEIGH: Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate Cheri Beasley released the following statement on Senate Republicans’ plan to raise taxes on 40 percent of North Carolinians – which none of the Republican candidates for Senate have spoken out against:

“As North Carolinians from the mountains to the coast work hard to take care of their families and make ends meet, Senate Republicans are planning to make it even more difficult by raising taxes by an average of $1,000 for nearly 40 percent of people in our state. It’s unacceptable – and worse, Pat McCrory and Ted Budd refuse to speak out against it. We cannot afford to allow North Carolina’s next U.S. Senator to be a rubber stamp for the Republican agenda of raising taxes.”

A new study from nonpartisan experts found Senate Republicans’ plan would raise taxes on nearly 40 percent of North Carolinians by more than $1,000 on average, putting North Carolina in the top quartile of states impacted by Republicans’ irresponsible agenda.
