RALEIGH: Today, Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate Cheri Beasley’s campaign launched her first television ad. Beasley’s ad, “The Road,” highlights Beasley’s commitment to serving North Carolina with justice and integrity as a public defender, judge, and Chief Justice of the North Carolina Supreme Court.
“As a public defender, I represented North Carolinians who couldn’t afford a lawyer – because everyone has a right to representation, no matter who you are or where you’re from. As a judge and Chief Justice of the North Carolina Supreme Court, I led with a commitment to justice and integrity. It’s the same approach I’ll take to the Senate, because Washington isn’t listening, and I’ll be a voice for all of North Carolina,” Beasley says in the ad.
The ad is running statewide, and comes on the heels of another massive fundraising quarter for the Beasley campaign. Last week, the campaign announced it raised $3.6 million in the first fundraising quarter of 2022, powered by donations from all 100 counties in North Carolina.
Beasley has coalesced support from across North Carolina and, while infighting and division consumes the Republican primary, Cheri’s campaign continues to be well-positioned to win November. She has focused on visiting with voters across the state and talking about the issues that matter to North Carolinians, from lowering costs, to strengthening the economy, to expanding affordable health care. Beasley has also earned key endorsements from major organizations and over 200 leaders across the state, including Governor Roy Cooper, Attorney General Josh Stein, every Democratic member of North Carolina’s congressional delegation, and over 100 faith leaders.
Beasley made history as the state’s first African American woman to serve as Chief Justice and if elected to the U.S. Senate, she would again make history as North Carolina’s first African American U.S. Senator and only the third African American woman to serve in the U.S. Senate.
