RALEIGH: Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate Cheri Beasley released the following statement on Congressman Ted Budd’s vote against bipartisan legislation to lower insulin costs for more than a million North Carolinians:

“Congressman Budd has once again put corporate special interests ahead of what’s best for North Carolina, voting tonight against bipartisan legislation to cap the cost of insulin – and he owes an explanation to the more than a million North Carolinians with diabetes and their families who are looking for relief. In the Senate, I’ll put the people first and fight to lower health care costs for North Carolinians.”

Over a quarter of North Carolinians with diabetes passed away from the disease in 2020, according to the Centers for Disease Control – among the highest diabetes mortality rates in the nation.
