RALEIGH: Today, the Sierra Club announced its endorsement of U.S. Senate candidate Cheri Beasley. The Sierra Club aims to keep North Carolina clean and healthy by combating climate change issues and advocating for social justice for citizens across the state.
“With Justice Beasley’s strong track record on environmental and climate justice in North Carolina, we feel she is the best candidate to represent our state in challenging times,” says Hannah Furgiuele, Chair of the N.C. Sierra Club’s Political Committee. “We know she will keep all of North Carolina’s needs at the forefront when in Washington, and that she is a strong ally on critical issues such as environmental resilience, social justice, and economic development through clean energy technologies.”
“It is critical that we maintain a majority in the Senate that understands the urgency of the climate crisis and the need to protect clean air and water,” said Sierra Club Legislative Director Melinda Pierce. “The Sierra Club is committed to doing all we can to mobilize our members and volunteers to ensure that Justice Beasley is elected, and we look forward to working with her to fight for our environment as a U.S. Senator.”

The Sierra Club joins key organizations and over 200 leaders in endorsing Beasley for U.S. Senate, including Governor Roy Cooper, Attorney General Josh Stein, all Democratic members of North Carolina’s congressional delegation, and more than 100 faith leaders. Just last week, Beasley released her first ad “The Road” to voters, and she has outraised every candidate for U.S. Senate in North Carolina since entering the race.
