RALEIGH: Today, Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate Cheri Beasley met with voters in Madison County to discuss the need to strengthen rural economies and expand access to affordable health care and high-speed broadband. Beasley heard from voters about the challenges they are faced with and shared her experiences as a mother of twin sons and former public defender, judge, and Chief Justice who has spent over two decades serving the people of North Carolina.

“Folks here in Madison County brought up issues I’m hearing all over the state, especially in rural communities. The truth is, Washington has left these communities behind – and people are struggling. There are real challenges in Madison County – from access to broadband to affordable health care, especially with more than 1 in 8 people under 65 without health insurance – and in the U.S. Senate I will be the partner that rural communities like Madison County need and deserve,” said Cheri Beasley.
