RALEIGH: On Tax Day, Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate Cheri Beasley released the following statement condemning Congressman Ted Budd and former Governor Pat McCrory for being a rubber stamp on Senate Republicans’ plan to raise taxes on 40 percent of North Carolinians:

“As people across the state file their taxes today, they aren’t going to forget that Ted Budd and Pat McCrory would be a rubber stamp for Senate Republicans’ plan to raise taxes on 40 percent of North Carolinians. North Carolinians are working hard to take care of their families and make ends meet, and we cannot go backwards by electing a U.S. Senator who would force folks to stretch their hard-earned dollars even further.”

A study from nonpartisan experts found Senate Republicans’ plan would raise taxes on nearly 40 percent of North Carolinians by more than $1,000 on average, putting North Carolina in the top quartile of states impacted by Republicans’ irresponsible agenda.
