WASHINGTON, D.C. – Rep. French Hill (AR-02) today issued the following statement after President Joe Biden’s State of the Union address:

“On the 405th day of his presidency, Joe Biden came to Congress to convince us that the state of our union is strong – I was not convinced. Like many central Arkansans, I listened closely to President Biden’s speech looking for inspiration and solutions to the problems facing our nation, but all I heard was a rehash of the liberal priorities that gave us these problems in the first place.

“Problems such as increased costs at the grocery store and gas pump due to the highest inflation in over 40 years, a porous southwest border and rise of illicit fentanyl in our communities, increased crime in our cities, and leading from behind as Putin’s uniformed thugs wreak havoc on the people of the sovereign nation of Ukraine are emblematic of the failed decision making by this administration. We’re 405 days in, and President Biden and Democrats in Congress continue to double down on policies that simply aren’t working for the American people and our allies across the globe.

“Moving forward, I hope President Biden delivers on his promise to work across the aisle on commonsense policies to support veterans, secure the border, tame inflation, and conquer cancer and opioid abuse.”
