WASHINGTON, D.C. – Rep. French Hill (AR-02) issued the following statement after the House of Representatives passed H.R. 7276, the Ukraine Invasion War Crimes Deterrence and Accountability Act, by a bipartisan vote of 418-7.

“The world is now witness to what the Ukrainians have been telling us since Russia’s illegal war on Ukraine began – that Russians are indiscriminately torturing and executing Ukrainian men, women, and children. For two decades, Putin has gone unchecked and never paid a diplomatic or economic price for his mania. He leveled Grozny, destroyed historic Aleppo with his co-conspirator and partner, Bashar al-Assad, and he waltzed into Crimea without firing a shot.

“He had never faced true, armed resistance until he met the brave Ukrainian people. Congress is united as the overwhelming bipartisan support of today’s bill clearly states, and I was proud to support our initiative to ensure that the United States plays an active role in the collection, analysis, and preservation of all evidence leading to verifying the war crimes and humanitarian atrocities being committed by Putin’s army in Ukraine. Putin must be held accountable for his war crimes.”
