WASHINGTON, DC—Congressman David Kustoff (TN-08) recently cosponsored the Protecting Americans from Unnecessary Spread upon Entry (PAUSE) Act of 2021, H.R. 471. This bill would help prevent the massive influx of illegal immigration at our southern border by stopping immigrants who may be carrying COVID-19 from entering our country. Last March under the Trump administration, Title 42 was implemented. Title 42 is a border health protection that allows U.S. Customs and Border Protection to expel undocumented immigrants to prevent the spread of the virus in the United States. Now, President Biden is threatening to end this vital public health order.
"Title 42 has been an effective mitigation strategy to reduce the spread of COVID-19 into the United States from outside our borders. Until the pandemic is fully over, border health protections must remain in place," said Rep. Kustoff. " The PAUSE Act is a commonsense bill that would ensure the health and well-being of our Border Patrol Agents, Customs and Border Protection officers, and all Americans. The safety and security of our citizens will always remain a top priority for me and my colleagues here in Congress.”
