Following the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ announcement of the Consumer Price Index increasing to 8.3%, Joe O’Dea, candidate for the Republican nomination for United State Senate in Colorado, released the following statement:

“The spending spree of Washington D.C. politicians is crushing working Americans,” said Joe O’Dea. “Their paycheck is worth less - and the gas and groceries they need to buy cost more. This is the legacy of the Joe Biden administration and Colorado’s soft Senator, Michael Bennet, who has failed to stand up to his party to put an end to it.”

“Chairman Powell should lose his job, and the Federal Reserve system needs to be audited and fundamentally overhauled,” continued O’Dea. “The inflation miss by the Fed is one of the greatest acts of economic malfeasance in modern American history. The Fed reports to the bankers, not to the people. There must be accountability. There must be reform.”

This BLS report comes just one day after the Automobile Association of American reporting that Colorado’s gas prices had reached an all-time record high of $4.10 a gallon. That trend continued today as prices gained another cent.

“Every day, a single mother on a fixed income in Denver, or Pueblo, or Fort Collins, is making a decision between filling up her tank or buying a nutritious meal for her children, or perhaps whether they get to sign up this year for a sport they love to play,” said O’Dea. “Washington D.C. politicians have failed to address this issue for months and working Coloradans are paying the price.”
