DENVER - The campaign for United States Senate candidate Joe O’Dea announced today that former U.S. Senator Hank Brown has endorsed Joe’s candidacy.

“Senator Brown is a giant in Colorado politics, a true statesman,” said Joe O’Dea. “He has been a conservative leader for our state since he was first elected to the State Senate in 1973 and knows what it takes to run and win. I am honored that he has decided to join my team and endorse my candidacy.”

Hank Brown served as U.S. Senator from Colorado from 1991 until 1997. Previous to his election to the Senate, he served as U.S. Representative from Colorado’s 4th Congressional District (1981 to 1991) and State Senator from Colorado’s 29th district (1973 to 1977). He has also successfully guided the University of Colorado and the University of Northern Colorado both as President.

“Joe O’Dea is the person who sits at the head of the conference table, asking the smart questions, and making tough choices,” said Hank Brown. “Joe O’Dea is a boss – a true leader – not a career politician. He’s the kind of conservative Republicans will eagerly support who also boasts a personal story and a common sense approach that will attract independent and swing voters hungry for a new direction in our state and country. I’m getting on board with Joe O’Dea right now – I’m not waiting – because conservatives need to start ramping up to beat Senator Bennet. Joe and his team are doing exactly that – building a campaign to win in November.  I’m proud to join them.”

Previously, Joe O’Dea’s candidacy was endorsed by current and former Colorado State Senators Jerry Sonnenberg, Bob Rankin, Ray Scott, and Owen Hill. He has also been endorsed by the Denver Police Protective Association, Colorado’s largest association of police officers.
