U.S. Representative Peter Meijer’s (R-MI) bill, the Veterans Burn Pits Exposure Recognition Act, which he introduced in April 2021 with Representative Elissa Slotkin (D-MI), today passed the House as part of the larger, bipartisan Sergeant First Class Heath Robinson Honoring our Promises to Address Comprehensive Toxics (PACT) Act of 2022.

“We have an urgent moral obligation to take care of the men and women who have served and sacrificed to defend our nation,” said Rep. Meijer. “Bureaucratic obstacles have delayed needed care for veterans exposed to toxic burn pits during their service for too long. This comprehensive, bipartisan package represents an enormous step forward in caring for our nation’s veterans and truly honoring their service. As a veteran myself, I have been proud to help spearhead this effort, and I look forward to seeing President Biden make our bill the law of the land.”
