U.S. Senator Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) recently hosted a townhall discussion with over 40 mayors and city managers from across Alaska to speak to the bipartisan infrastructure law.
“Working on the bipartisan infrastructure law was one of the most consequential efforts of my career, and it’s critical Alaskan communities are ready for the opportunities coming their way,” said Senator Lisa Murkowski, a lead author of the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. “I’m looking forward to Alaska’s mayors, city managers, and local leaders implementing these federal funds to strengthen infrastructure in our state.”
Murkowski, along with moderator Nils Andreassen, Executive Director of the Alaska Municipal League, and community leaders discussed the complexity of grant applications, funding announcements, and more. Murkowski encouraged Alaskans to utilize the recently introduced infrastructure law guidebook for state, local, and tribal governments.
During the townhall, Murkowski shared that she will be hosting an infrastructure grant symposium on Monday, April 11 at the Denai’na Civic and Convention Center in Anchorage, Alaska. Details are forthcoming and will be posted here.
Background: Senator Murkowski has announced over $600 million in funds to Alaska to date from the bipartisan infrastructure law, with more expected to come. In January, an announcement from Murkowski included $25 million for the Denali Park Road, $250 million for the Port of Nome; $185 million for the Lowell Creek flood diversion project in Seward; $88 million for the Moose Creek Dam Project in North Pole; and $28 million for the Kenai Bluffs Bank Stabilization Project. In February, Murkowski announced $32 million available to Alaska for legacy well cleanup.
