U.S. Rep. Elissa Slotkin voted with her Democratic colleagues on Tuesday to let Congress begin crafting a $3.5 trillion budget plan that could mandate sweeping changes to health care, child care, higher education and more. Whether she votes for that plan once it's finalized this fall may be another matter. "I want to read it and (right now) there's no text even drafted," Slotkin, D-Holly, told the Free Press on Tuesday afternoon. "If it's transformative and important for my constituents ... then I'll consider it. I'm not going to give my vote away without a bill (to read first)."
