Chattanooga, TN – U.S. Representative Chuck Fleischmann (TN-03) released the following statement after co-sponsoring two bills that would keep children in school for in-person learning and codify into law every parent's right to decide if their child should or should not receive the COVID-19 vaccine. Congressman Fleischmann joined both bills as an original co-sponsor.
"For two years now, our country has been battling the COVID-19 pandemic, and we have successfully won that battle. Thanks to former-President Trump's Operation Warp Speed, we know exactly how to live with and treat COVID-19. It is time to end fearmongering over COVID and get back to everyday life," said Rep. Fleischmann. "There is no reason for any child in Tennessee or America to be forced to wear a mask or be put back into remote learning. We must also aggressively push back against those who would force parents to surrender their role and right to make health care decisions for their children."

The first bill, H.R.6564, the Keep Schools Open Act, introduced by fellow Tennessee Rep. Mark Green (TN-07), would require schools and other educational institutions to provide in-person learning and not force students into remote learning due to COVID-19 as a condition of receiving federal education funds.
The second bill, H.R.6676, the Protecting Parental Rights Act, introduced by Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler (WA-03), would prohibit health care providers from administering the COVID-19 vaccine to children without parental consent.
