San Carlos Apache Tribe Chairman Terry Rambler endorsed Marco Lopez for governor of Arizona.
“I’ve had the privilege of getting to know Marco Lopez over the past 16 months,” said Chairman Rambler. “Time after time he’s shown his character—joining us on our land, spending time with our tribal leadership and our college administration. I know that he will be a fierce defender of all of Arizona’s diverse communities, protecting our right to vote, respecting tribal sovereignty and working with us as a true partner.”
“It’s an honor to receive my second tribal leader endorsement from Chairman Rambler,” said Marco Lopez, Democratic candidate for governor of Arizona. “We are here on the ancestral homelands of American Indian tribes that have inhabited this land for centuries. We must respect tribal sovereignty, include our 22 tribes in the decisions that affect all of us and protect everyone’s right to vote. I look forward to learning from Chairman Rambler and incorporating the knowledge of the San Carlos Apache into my administration.”
Chairman Rambler has been chairman of the San Carlos Apache tribe since 2010. The San Carlos Apache Indian Reservation encompasses 1.8 million acres of land area in northern Graham, southeastern Gila and eastern Pinal Counties.
In June, the Lopez campaign released its policy commitments to Arizona’s Native tribes, the first and only gubernatorial campaign to do so. The commitments include: defending voting rights, protecting water resources, improving health care equity, promoting economic development and ensuring proper communication and representation.
Chairman Rambler is the 67th endorsement and second tribal leader endorsement for Marco Lopez, joining a list that includes:
