Congressman Cohen Announces Aging Research Grants to St. Jude and UTHSC

Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today announced that St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital will receive a grant of $500,500 and the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) will receive a grant of $308,000, both to study tauopathies. The grants are from the National Institute on Aging. Tauopathies are a group of progressive neurodegenerative disorders defined by the presence of tau protein aggregates in the brain.

Congressman Cohen made the following statement:

“I am pleased to announce this critical research funding addressing neurodegenerative illnesses. Both of these Memphis-based research institutions are working to understand these diseases and their efforts will improve outcomes and likely extend healthy lives.”
