U.S. Congressman Mark Green (R-Clarksville) hosted a Veterans Town Hall on Thursday, Aug. 26 at the William O. Beach Civic Hall in Clarksville, the same day 13 service members were killed in Kabul.

The service members were killed by a suicide bomber while assisting Americans and Afghans as they arrived at the airport in Kabul, attempting to evacuate the area.

Green had spent most of the day leading up to the Clarksville meeting on the phone and on national TV responding to the tragedy he feels was preventable.

“The effect of this withdrawal couldn’t have been planned any worse,” Green said. “It appears to have come from the very top.”
