Governor Brian Kemp: Secretary of State’s Office Sets Record for Corporate Filings

A record 637,587 business registrations have been filed with the Georgia Secretary of State’s Corporations Division this year, Secretary of State Brian Kemp announced Friday.

The number of registrations surpassed last year’s record of 633,288 annual registrations. Business filings are being processed at record speed – averaging 2.37 business days from start to finish.Secretary of state’s office sets record for corporate filings.

“In the Peach State, it has never been easier or faster to file your business. This is how government should work,” Kemp said. “We will continue to streamline our processes. … When you slash bureaucracy and implement private sector solutions, you get real results.”

For-profit corporations, nonprofits, professional corporations, limited liability companies, and limited partnerships in Georgia are required to register their business with the secretary of state’s office. The annual registration period for existing businesses runs from Jan.1 to April 1. New businesses may file throughout the year.

In June 2015, Kemp launched a new, state-of-the-art filing platform – eCorp – for businesses filing with the corporations division.
