Carter on House Democrats’ Failure to Budget

Rep. Earl L. “Buddy” Carter (R-GA), a member of the Budget Committee, gave the following statement after the House Budget Committee quietly passed a $1.6 trillion “deeming resolution” instead of fulfilling their legal obligation to pass a budget:

“Washington’s budgeting process is broken. You shouldn’t need a law degree to understand how the government plans to spend hard-earned taxpayer dollars. As Biden famously said, a budget is a statement of your values. I challenge Washington Democrats to put their values on paper by following the law and introducing a budget. Tell the American people why you think it’s okay to spend an additional $100 billion when inflation is already at a 40-year high. Taxpayers don’t deserve gimmicks, they deserve the truth.”
