CONGRESSMAN BISHOP MOURNS THE LOSS OF FORMER SENATOR BOB DOLE

Georgia

Today, Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr. (GA-02) issued the following statement regarding the passing of former U.S. Senator Bob Dole:

“Bob Dole embodied the Greatest Generation. He was a decorated Soldier who put his life on the line for his brothers in uniform, suffered the scars of war, and nonetheless overcame that adversity to serve the American people in Congress.

“I had the good fortune and honor to work with Senator Dole on the Eisenhower Commission and continue — to this day — to support the Dole-McGovern Food for Education Program in my role as chair of the appropriations subcommittee that funds the program.

“Though tested in the fire of combat, he was warmhearted to those around him, regardless of party affiliation. And, while we will miss Bob dearly, his humility, selflessness, and resilience should be guideposts for us all.”
