Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr. (GA-02) is pleased to announce that three communities in the Second Congressional District of Georgia have been awarded a total of $667,000 in grants and loans for improvements to essential community facilities from the U.S. Department of Agriculture-Rural Development’s (USDA) Community Facilities Direct Loan & Grant (CFDLG) Program.
“Our nation depends on healthy, vibrant rural communities, and this is an important investment in their well-being. Thanks to this support, these communities can get the equipment they need to provide better public service to our residents,” said Congressman Bishop.
The CFDLG investments for GA-02 are:
- The City of Dawson: $50,000 Community Facility Disaster Grant as well as $109,500 Community Facilities Direct Loans and Guaranteed Loan to purchase three fully equipped patrol vehicles.
- The Unified Government of Georgetown-Quitman County: $50,000 Community Facility Disaster Grant as well as $207,500 Community Facilities Direct Loans and Guaranteed Loan to purchase a fire truck to replace the current model which is high maintenance and requires constant repairs.
- The Miller County Board of Commissioners: $50,000 Community Facility Disaster Grant to purchase a heavy-duty truck for the EMS Department which will be used to carry rescue equipment to the area of accidents throughout the County.
- The Miller County Board of Commissioners: $50,000 Community Facility Disaster Grant to purchase two replacement vehicles (regular work truck and a dump truck) to be used by the County's Road Department.
- The Miller County Board of Commissioners: $50,000 Community Facility Disaster Grant to purchase four department vehicles to be used by the County's Administrative Department for the Commissioner's Office, Emergency Management, Inspection and Planning, and Tax Assessors and Tax Commissioner's Office.
- The Miller County Board of Commissioners: $50,000 Community Facility Disaster Grant to purchase four patrol vehicles for the County Sheriff's Department which will replace vehicles with high maintenance and mileage.
- The Miller County Board of Commissioners: $50,000 Community Facility Disaster Grant to purchase three Power Load Systems for the EMS Department Ambulances.
