(Athens, GA) – Pastor and conservative lawmaker Representative Wes Cantrell (R-22) – who represents portions of Cherokee, Fulton, and Forsyth counties – endorsed Brian Kemp today saying that he is “the real thing” and the trusted candidate for school choice advocates.
“Brian Kemp understands, as most Georgians do, that even the best schools, public or private, cannot adequately address the needs of every student,” said Rep. Cantrell. “Children are unique, and there will always be a percentage of students who require a personalized education plan. We have to encourage greater parental involvement and empower them with more flexible options to address their child’s individual needs. We need to put students – not the status quo – first.
“Before the 2018 Legislative Session, Brian championed a pilot Education Savings Account program for students from military families. This initiative is very similar to the Education Scholarship Account program included in House Bill 482, which failed on the House Floor. As governor, we can count on Kemp to fulfill his campaign promises and bring this proposal to reality.
“Brian Kemp is the real thing. He’s the same person in every setting. There’s no difference between what he says privately and publicly. You don’t have to wonder where he stands on issues that matter most to Georgia conservatives. You don’t have to be concerned that he’ll change his mind based on the generosity of lobbyists.
“If you believe in school choice, then join with me in voting Kemp for Governor.”
