(Athens, GA) – Georgia Labor Commissioner Mark Butler announced the state’s unemployment rate dropped to 3.9% – matching the lowest rate since July 2001. Georgia also set records for jobs, labor force, and number of employed residents. In response, conservative businessman and Republican nominee for governor, Brian Kemp, issued the following statement:

“Thanks to strong, conservative leadership under the Gold Dome, Georgia businesses are creating jobs and economic opportunity throughout our state,” said Kemp. “To keep the Peach State growing, we need an experienced job creator, bold innovator, and proven leader as our next governor. With three decades of experience in the private sector, I am the only candidate who is prepared to be Georgia’s next CEO and governor on Day One.”

Kemp’s plan for economic growth includes regulatory reform, implementing a spending cap that leads to tax reform, and targeted economic development projects in rural Georgia.
