(Athens, GA) – Today, Governor Deal, the Georgia Ports Authority, and hundreds of business and civic leaders commemorated the opening of the Appalachian Regional Port (ARP) in Murray County. Joining with Governor Deal and other state leaders in celebrating this project, conservative businessman and Republican nominee for governor, Brian Kemp, issued the following statement:
“Thanks to visionary Republican leadership over the last sixteen years, the Savannah Port and inland port investments across the state are paying big dividends for Georgia businesses and families,” said Kemp. “I’m excited that Murray County, northwest Georgia, and our neighboring states will benefit from another smart investment to give hardworking Georgians access to new markets, while reducing congestion by removing an estimated 50,000 trucks off the roads each year.”
