Conservative businessman Brian Kemp has a long track record of supporting our active duty military, veterans, and their families.
As Secretary of State, Kemp created a Military Liaison position to connect with soldiers, military bases, and veterans’ hospitals. He also launched a state-of-the-art ballot delivery system for active duty military and their families who are deployed overseas.

Eliminating Income Tax from Retired Military Pay
When it comes to luring retirees, Georgia is at a competitive disadvantage. While thousands serve our country at one of our nine military installations, tax incentives in Florida, Tennessee, or Texas often drive veterans to neighboring states after they leave the service.
By eliminating state income tax from military retirement income, we can thank hardworking Georgia voters for their service and encourage others to have the Peach State on their mind when choosing a place to put down roots.
Protecting Georgia’s Military Installations, Economy
Our military bases train American soldiers, protect our homeland, and secure freedom around the world. Beyond their mission, Georgia’s military installations drive the local economy and create countless economic opportunities for rural communities throughout our state. Georgia’s military community supports more than 327,000 jobs across nine installations – contributing more than $19 billion annually in economic impact.
To ensure a strong and growing economy, we must protect our military bases from BRAC. As governor, Kemp will create a senior level position within the Office of the Governor to coordinate with the Georgia Joint Defense Commission, connect with base leadership, engage with Georgia’s congressional delegation, and implement proactive strategies to build strength in specific areas of national defense.
The Executive Counselor on Military Affairs will work around the clock to defend our bases and strengthen the communities, economies they support.
Transitioning Veterans into Georgia’s Workforce
To ensure a smooth – and successful – transition from military service to the workforce, Brian Kemp will secure funding for Veterans Career Transition Resource Center (VECTR) satellite services at all 22 Technical College System of Georgia campuses.
In addition to providing career training and placement services in high demand and strategic industries, VECTR locations work to address the healthcare needs of veterans by connecting our nation’s heroes with Georgia’s Department of Veterans Services and the Department of Veterans Affairs.
