Andy Harris Votes Against Bill to Reduce Deficit, Lower Drug Costs, Create Green Jobs

Maryland

Chestertown, MD – Today, Rep. Andy Harris voted against reducing the deficit by hundreds of billions of dollars, lowering the cost of prescription drugs for families and seniors, creating millions of jobs, and combating the climate crisis that gravely threatens lives and livelihoods in his district.

The Inflation Reduction Act, one of the most consequential pieces of legislation in decades, addresses several issues that voters consistently identify as priorities. Yet Harris, who last month said “no” to helping trafficking victims, protecting same-sex and interracial marriage, and ensuring access to contraception, continues to stand for big corporations and far-right interest groups and against the people he is supposed to represent.

“Once again, Andy Harris has shown all of us just how out of touch he is,” said Heather Mizeur, the Democratic nominee for Maryland’s First Congressional District. “The bill he opposed today will help working families and seniors by lowering health care costs and helping to ward off the effects of climate change that severely threaten our coastal First District.”
