Washington, DC—Today, U.S. Rep. John Rose indicated his support for Senate bill S. 4160, the Supreme Court Police Parity Act of 2022, which intends to provide security for United States Supreme Court justices and their families. The bill was introduced by Senator Cornyn (R-TX) and Senator Coons (D-DE) and passed the Senate unanimously on May 9.
U.S. Representative John Rose released the following statement:
“Speaker Pelosi must put politics aside and bring this common-sense bill to the Floor of the U.S. House of Representatives for a vote immediately. The United States is a nation of laws, and we must protect our institutions that safeguard those laws from mob rule attempting to undermine them.”
Yesterday, House Democrats blocked a vote on the bill in the U.S. House of Representatives despite reports of an attempted assassination of U.S. Supreme Court Associate Justice Brett Kavanaugh. Additionally, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s National Terrorism Advisory System issued a bulletin on Tuesday warning that threats in the United States could become even more volatile through summer and midterm election season fueled by political violence surrounding an upcoming Supreme Court ruling on abortion restrictions.
U.S. Representative John Rose is currently serving his second term representing Tennessee's Sixth Congressional District and resides in Cookeville with his wife, Chelsea, and their two sons, Guy and Sam. The Sixth District includes Cannon, Clay, Coffee, Cumberland, DeKalb, Fentress, Jackson, Macon, Overton, Pickett, Putnam, Robertson, Smith, Sumner, Trousdale, White, and Wilson counties as well as portions of Cheatham and Van Buren counties. Representative Rose is an eighth-generation farmer, small business owner, and attorney, and currently serves on the House Financial Services Committee.
