Today, Hulu rejected Congresswoman Carolyn Bourdeaux’s campaign ad “Leading the Fight” because it highlights Bourdeaux’s staunch pro-choice position. Hulu’s new advertising guidelines state that they won’t air political ads that they judge to be “controversial” such as abortion or guns.

In response, Congresswoman Carolyn Bourdeaux released the following statement:

“At this pivotal moment in our nation’s history, as the Supreme Court prepares to overturn Roe v. Wade, we cannot allow this kind of censorship on a major media platform, especially on this critical issue. I have marched, protested, and worked for many years to protect our reproductive rights. In Georgia, we are facing an abortion ban akin to something out of ‘A Handmaid’s Tale*.’ Voters deserve to know that I will do everything within my power to protect access to reproductive care. Hulu should drop this dangerous and outrageous ban on pro-choice advertising.”

*A Handmaid’s Tale is a Hulu original program.

Congresswoman Bourdeaux will be available for interviews upon request. To request an interview, contact Titilayo Okuwa at 407-223-0016 or press@carolyn4congress.com.
