Tonight, Congresswoman Carolyn Bourdeaux emphasized her deep commitment to her constituents in Georgia’s 7th district while calling out McBath for abandoning her district and handing it over to Republicans. While Congresswoman Bourdeaux delivered detailed answers and solutions, McBath relied on talking points and empty rhetoric.

“As the Congresswoman from Georgia’s 7th District, my focus tonight was speaking directly to my constituents,” Congresswoman Carolyn Bourdeaux said. “They need to know that I will not abandon them when the going gets tough. They are not generic Democratic voters to me. I show up, I listen and I deliver for them and all the diverse communities of the district.”

Congresswoman Bourdeaux emphasized her record of accomplishments in the District, including;

  • Deep involvement in service to the community, holding over 200 community events, including 17 town halls and two job fairs.
  • Delivering a historic $550 billion infrastructure bill, including $11.4 billion in transportation investments to the state of Georgia.
  • Passing the Paycheck Protection Program(PPP) Extension ACT, legislation introduced by Congresswoman Carolyn Bourdeaux. This allowed the Biden Administration to do more outreach to small, minority, and women-owned businesses and allowed 270,000 businesses in Georgia to access $5 billion in forgivable PPP loans.
  • Securing $5 million in funding for community projects in the areas of affordable housing, early childhood education, hiring veterans, mental health services, innovative economic development, and workforce development.
The Congresswoman also landed several important criticisms of opponent Lucy McBath, including pointing out that she is abandoning her constituents in district 6 and surrendering a seat to the Republicans when Democrats only have a five-vote majority in the US House.

Debate Highlights:

“Here’s what is going on in the 7th district: Lucy has made a calculated choice that it is easier to come to and fight me in the 7th than to fight Republicans in her own district. By doing this, she is giving up her seat and she is helping Republicans take back the house in November.

“If the shoe were on the other foot, I would never abandon the people of Georgia’s 7th district and I’ve proven this over and over again. In tough race after tough race ”

“I ground everything in the needs of the people of this district and we have a lot of them. One of my top priorities is trying to expand medicaid in Georgia, and I’ve introduced legislation with Senator Warnock on the senate side to do that.”
